3 Text Messaging Tips for Student Ministers

video, listen to the audio or read the bullet points below.

  1. Check in and Encourage. The tendency to remind students of events or things that are happening. Use it more to encourage and pray for them.
  2. Limit How Much You Text. You can text too much sometimes. So limited how much you text with students on a regular basis. The more you text them the more likely they are going to tune you out.
  3. Use Multiple Text Platforms. The reality is students text on a variety of platforms. They don’t all use the default SMS app on their phone. They will use Snapchat, Instagram DMs, Facebook Messenger and other platforms you may have never heard of. Find out what they use and message them on that app. Then you are more likely to get a response.
