3 Ways to Digitally Train Volunteers

When I was starting out in youth ministry back in the last 90s (yes, quite a number of years ago), there was one way to receive training. That was to receive in person training. You could go to a place and receive training in a conference type setting or you could do training with your team at your Church or building. Bottom line is that to get the training, it had to be in person.

While this was the most common way to get training the problem with this is that if you couldn’t meet up in person, you couldn’t get the training. But that has changed now. Technology has enabled us to train volunteers even when we can’t all be together. In this video, audio or bullet points below, I will share 3 ways you can digitally train volunteers today.

Zoom Training. This way you can do it “in person” in a digital way. You can connect with your team on a Zoom call and you can even do breakout rooms if needed. This is a great way you can connect in a gathering that makes it time efficient for your team while also seeing each other and having conversations with each other.

On Demand Training. This could be done in the form of video or podcast, or both. This training is really great because people can watch it on their own time. They are not confined by time or location. They can watch it anywhere.

Online Training via a Separate Organization. This has been happening for a number of years with the famous “simulcast” in the late 90s. This is where an Organization would offer the training and your team could watch and experience it in the comfort of your own Church or even a house. Willow Creek was really known for this. This still happens today, but it is much more clean these days. Plus, the technology is so much more advanced that almost any organization can share a training online today.

There are a variety of ways you can train volunteers today. Thankfully, technology helps us do most of them. Technology now helps us train volunteers even when we can't all be together. Click To Tweet
