The clip below is a scene from season 1. At this point in the show, Rebecca is the new owner of AFC Richmond and has intentionally tried to sabotage the team as she wanted revenge against her ex-husband. Here she confesses to Ted about this. See how he responds.

“I forgive you.” Such powerful words.

Teaching Points

So what can we learn from this clip? This clip can be used in a variety of settings. Here are two teaching points

TEACHING POINT 1:

Forgiveness starts with empathy. Ted was empathic towards Rebecca because he could identify with what she was going through. After he choose to forgive her, she asked why. He simply said, “divorce is hard…makes folks do crazy things.” Ted was going through a separation at that time and he could identify with her. He was empathic which help lead him to being forgiving.

TEACHING POINT 2:

The way Ted treated people and his outlook on life made an impact. Rebecca tried to sabotage the team, but Ted’s outlook on life and how he remained positive was life-altering for her and the team. In the same way, how you treat others and approach life can have a huge impact on the lives around you. To remain positive and focused, we need to stay focused on Christ and what His plan and purpose is in our lives. It may be challenging at times, as it was in Ted’s life, but it keeps us focused on what we need to do and how.

I forgive you. Ted choose to forgive Rebecca in this clip from season 1. His choice leads us to some great lessons learned about forgiveness. See what here. Click To Tweet
