interact with influencers as well. On Twitter you can follow anyone and be followed by anyone on Twitter (unless you make your account private). This is a big difference from Facebook where you have to be “friends” with someone or “like” their page. So, you can get on Twitter at any time and ask specific people questions or try to talk with them about a topic of some sort. This is a great plus that I have taken advantage of numerous times. Over the course of my time on Twitter I have engage with so many pastors, ministers and people of influence in my field ministry that I never would’ve never had the opportunity without it or even Facebook. In fact, many of the people I interview on my podcast are people I connected with on Twitter. People like Josh Griffin, Van Baird, Justin Dean, Michael Stelzner, Amy Schmittauer and Jay Kranda. These are influential people in my world and I just reached out to on Twitter and they responded! It was very cool! And, a fun, non-professional way I’ve used it has been to connect with celebrities! I have asked them questions or even mentioned them in a tweet and they will respond to me or retweet me and that is something. That is something that never happens in any other environment other than Twitter. Take a look at my interaction with Richard Marx below. This was a fun one but I’ve also connected with others such as lawyers made famous from the Serial podcast and an actress from my favorite show, the Americans. The bottom line is that with Twitter, you can connect with people. Whether it’s your favorite writer, pastor, ministry leader or celebrity, Twitter provides you the opportunity to connect. The reality is sometimes they won’t answer you but some of them will and maybe, just maybe you can get to talk about something you view as important. It’s worth a shot and it could lead to some great conversations and friendship that develop. So, the question is, what’s stopping you? Connect with an Influencer today. What do you think? How have you connected with influencers on Twitter? Share below or on social media adding #ymsidekick to it. [mc4wp_form id="8855"]]]>
