the Dot Matrix Printer Throwback Thursday

Good golly, this was my very first printer.  In fact if you are between the ages of 35-45, this was probably your 1st printer too.  If you are younger than 35 you probably have no idea what this is. My memory of the dot matrix printer goes back to…

• using a cable that would connect my IBM PS/2 to this printer.  The printer had to be close to my computer because the cord wasn’t that long
• my mom buying printer paper in a big box and then lining the holes on the outside of the paper with the “wheel” or whatever you called it so it would print properly
• buying those tape ribbons with the ink on them so
• in 1997 when I got my 1st job at Truro Church as their Middle School Intern.  It was then that I finally got exposure to inkjet printers by HP.  Such an upgrade!

What replaces the Dot Matrix printer now?  You name it, there are a variety great printers now by HP and Epson.  Most printers today can scan, fax, copy, and even load pictures from usb ports.  Most printers too don’t even need cords to connect to your computer.  They are wireless or even bluetooth enabled these days. When you think about it, it’s amazing how printer technology has evolved over the years and have made our personal and professional lives simpler.
