I don’t know if you have watched the news lately but there is A LOT happening! The news wants to tell you all about how the Supreme Court is impacting your life. It wants to tell you about how inflation is impacting your life. It wants to tell you how who won the latest sporting champions should impact your life. It wants to tell you how this war or conflict will impact your life, as well. The news will tell you how a variety of things will impact your life for the better or worse.
The reality is that some of these things will, in fact, impact you and your community. But, how do you know for sure if it will or will not? The only way you know what is impacting your community is by knowing your community. You cannot rely on the news or any other source to tell you what is impacting your community. You have to spend time getting to know your community.
While the news is good at informing you about what is happening, you have to truly get to know your community to know what and how the news impacts your community. Click To TweetSo how can you do that? How can you effectively impact your community for Christ no matter what news is happening around the world? Here are a few ideas:
- Know the history of your community. Every community has a history. It may not all be a good history. There could be some bad stuff there that impacts your community. Get to know the history of your community. Go to the local library or town hall and find out more information. You could also probably Google search your community to find out more about it. The more you know the history, good and bad,
- Be among the people. You need to get out and be with them, talking with them and engaging in conversations with them. The more you can do that, the more you can understand your community. And, the more you understand your community, the more you will impact your community for Christ. Go to the local coffee shop, community flea market, farmers market, county fair or any other community event to see what people are talking about and discussing. If your community is too big for these “small town” events, find events or places your community does go to. Maybe it’s the local sports fields on a Saturday or the town center where there are a few restaurants and playgrounds
- Support your Community. One of the best ways to impact your community is to find ways to serve your community. These are things you do not have to organize yourself. Rather, you can be part of any neighborhood cleaning day, service opportunity or donation drive. These are great opportunities to support the neighborhood while getting to know others and what is important to them.
- Get some help. As important as it is to get out and be with people in your community, sometimes you need a little help. The good news is that there are great organizations like Firm Foundations Marketing that can help you and your Church understand your community better. The more you can understand your community, the better the opportunity you have at ministering to them.
Conclusion
God has you in your community for a reason. Know what impacts them so that you can best meet their needs and share the love of Christ wit them. The best ways to do that is to do your research. Get to know the community and it’s history, be part of what is happening and support things the community is doing. Be part of your community. Even if you need some help, there are great organizations who can help you get to know your community. The more you know them, the better equipped you are at being able to minister to them. All of this will be able to help them experience Christ and be changed because of Him.
