How to stay engaged and involved in your family life

You ministry will change over the years, people will come and go, but as I describe in this video, you will have your family the rest of your life. You owe it to them, and you, to be fully engaged and involved. So how do you do that? What can you do to be more engaged and involved? Here are some ideas.

  • Pay attention to teacher emails and announcements. School is different today than when I was younger. All parents have a great opportunity to get up-to-date info on how your children are doing and what is ahead for the class in general. I get at least one email a week from some teachers. Pay attention to those emails.
  • Pay attention to their extra-curricular activities. Find out what is going on and be apart of this team that you don’t have to lead. Get to know the other parents – not necessarily for a “ministry opportunity” but to take an interest.
  • Be present. Get off your phone, enjoy your time with your family and your friends. You don’t have to work 24/7. As I discovered with my own kids, your kids are always looking to see if you are paying attention and watching them. They want you to see them and take nktocr of what they are doing so pay attention and be present in their activities.
We work all the time in ministry and it can be very rewarding. But we don’t have to work all the time. Take an active interest in what is going on in your family life before you look back realizing you missed some great opportunities to love and care for your own family. So what do you think?
