“The Empire Strikes Back” is one of the most believed Star Wars movie of all time. In fact, many would place it as number one. In the movie there are powerful examples of friendship, love, betrayal and a shocking revelation.
Prior to this scene was Yoda saying that there is no try, there is only do. Luke tried to raise the X-Wing but couldn’t. After encouragement from Yoda, Luke walked ways saying “you want the impossible.” Watch the clip below to see what happens next.
Luke couldn’t believe that Yoda could do this. Yoda responded with his famous, “that is why you fail” comment.
Teaching Points
So what can we learn from this clip? This clip can be used in two different settings. It can be a video illustration to your ministry leaders and also people you are ministering to. While there are similarities in the teaching point, they are applied differently.
Here is the TEACHING POINT to Ministry Leaders
Ministry can be challenging at times. It can be especially challenging when things are not going well and you are not having as much success reaching people for Christ. And, while it can be discouraging, nothing is impossible with God. God can do all things, including a virgin birth, walking on water, turning water into wine, calling a storm and raising a person from the dead. Those all seemed like impossible situations. So, no matter what the situation is, God can work and perform miracles. As Matthew 19:26 says, “with God all things are possible.”
Here is the TEACHING POINT to those your are Ministering to.
While we many never want tough times or trials in life, they do come. We can choose to believe that nothing good will happen from it and storm away, as Luke did. Or, we can choose to pursue God and ask Him for His guidance in how to handle the situation. Things may seem impossible, but we need to try and rely on God. We need to be He can do all things and through His power, all things are possible.
