Meerkat was the HIT at SWSX 2015, it didn’t take long for other social media companies to catch up to Clubhouse. Enter Twitter Spaces. Discover more about Twitter Spaces in this video, on the audio podcast version or below on the bullet points. What is Twitter Spaces? Twitter Spaces allows users to host and participate in live audio conversations, hosted within these audio chat rooms called “Spaces”. As of May 2021, anyone with over 600 followers on Twitter has access to Twitter Spaces. What is the competition? Clubhouse. Facebook is also working on something of their own. Why not just use Clubhouse instead of Spaces? Good question. For starters, Twitter has over a lot more daily users than Clubhouse. Twitter is a known platform and has more backing than Clubhouse does. So, if you want to reach more people, Twitter Spaces is a better bet. How do you start a Space? On your Twitter Mobile App, press and long hold the “compose” button How can you use it with ministry?
- Sermon and After Church Discussions. Set up a Twitter Space right after the service and have people jump on and share their thoughts and ask questions right after the service.
- Bible Studies. You can set up different Bible studies and host them for anyone who wants to learn more. It’s a great discipleship and outreach opportunity.
- Outreach Opportunities. Create a Space about something fun or cultural and begin a discussion about it.
- Learn from Others. I’ve enjoyed hoping on Spaces featuring people talking about topics I want to learn about and get more information on.
